Thirty-five years ago a young man named Ed Pollack walked into the then-modest Central Cooling & Heating offices to start his first day on the job as a salesman. Over the years, he worked his way up to become a partner in the business. Not a day has passed since then that everyone at Central Cooling & Heating hasn’t valued Ed Pollack as an exceptional colleague and friend.

In honor of his retirement, we asked Ed a few questions about his time at Central Cooling & Heating and his plans for the future.

Oh, it’s definitely the enjoyable experiences I have had with my fellow employees, our customers and — most of all — the founders of the company: Doug Sr. and Carole Hamilton. Doug and Carole started this business in 1966 and brought me here in 1981. They poured their hearts into the business, which has become one of the most successful and prominent heating and air conditioning companies in Eastern Massachusetts.

“Doug Sr. taught me the right way to operate this company, especially the importance of treating our employees and customers with respect. That’s always been on my mind every working day, and I have tried to help spread this philosophy to our entire staff.

“I confidently and proudly leave behind a great company, with wonderful, talented employees and loyal customers that will be well served by the level of professionalism I was introduced to 35 years ago.”

I’ll continue to work with (fellow Central Cooling partners) Doug and Darren Hamilton in the real estate investing that we do together. I will also enjoy my hobbies and interests while looking for that “something different” to occupy my time. And I will always be available to help Central Cooling & Heating in any way I can. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Throughout the Central Cooling & Heating family, we are going to sincerely miss Ed Pollack. He has truly earned time to relax and enjoy life outside of business. We can only hope to continue with his outstanding legacy and build upon all of his hard work.

Thank you for serving this company with the upmost dedication, Ed. It won’t be the same without you!
